Peace of mind for your behind!™

Failed drainfield, breakout

Is your septic system a ticking time bomb?

Undetected drainfield overloading can result in costly and hazardous sewage system back-ups or breakout on the ground surface. The cost to rehabilitate a severely failed sewage system can be many times higher than detecting and fixing problems early.

Many homeowners don’t like the look of inspection ports sticking up above the ground surface. Often they get pulled out or buried, and are no longer functional.

Traditional methods of monitoring drainfield levels (by putting a dip-stick down the inspection ports) are extremely time consuming to carry out. Manual measurements can be “hit and miss”, and may not allow detection of dangerously high liquid levels in time to avert a system failure.

An effluent filter prevents solids from plugging your drainfield, but it requires maintenance!

A septic tank effluent filter prevents solids from plugging your drainfield, but it requires maintenance!

Sewage back-ups into the home due to a clogged septic tank effluent filter are another common problem which can create a costly and hazardous mess. The frequency with which an effluent filter will require cleaning is difficult to predict. Some will last for two or three years between cleaning, but others plug up in less than 1 year.

Traditional wide-angled float switches are limited to a single alarm level, and are not always reliable to warn of an impending backup.

Potential home buyers are often anxious about buying a home with a septic system, especially if its condition is unknown. You may be asked to reduce the selling price of your home by thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars, or risk losing the sale altogether, if the condition of your septic system is in question.

The Septic SitterTM avoids all of these problems by keeping watch over septic tanks and drainfields – 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.

If a user-preset high level is exceeded, Septic Sitter will issue an alert, so corrective action can be taken, before system failure occurs.

This innovative electronic monitor installs easily in any standard inspection port and provides peace of mind by confirming the subsurface wastewater infiltration system (drainfield) is working properly.

Preserve and maximize your real estate value! Detailed liquid level graphs and reports generated by the Septic Sitter can be provided to potential buyers and septic system or home inspectors to demonstrate that your septic system has been working properly under typical loading conditions and occupancy levels.

Septic Sitter Cloud Schematic

Septic Sitter can issue notifications, and early warning alerts to any SMS or internet connected device, so you can take action before system back-up or failure occurs.

Time-stamped, liquid level data is sent to, and stored in the “Cloud”, where detailed logs of liquid level data can be accessed using any computer or smartphone with internet access. See the demo of our Cloud access site from one of our onsite testing system live feeds!

Septic SitterTM provides early detection of:

  • Septic tank effluent filter plugging
  • Drainfield hydraulic overloading
  • Drainfield organic overloading
  • Leaking plumbing fixtures
  • Excessive clogging of infiltrative surface
  • Groundwater infiltration
  • Neglected maintenance

Septic SitterTM provides valuable system information:

  • Instantaneous liquid levels
  • Historical trends and data logging.
  • Proof of drainfield recovery
  • Dry trenches – underutilized drainfield areas

Septic SitterTM data can also be used to help plan if and when an on-site sewage system will need to be expanded, or to identify drainfield lines or zones with excess capacity.

The patented Septic SitterTM uses state-of-the-art, non-contact sonar sensor technology, which avoids possible problems with biofouling of contact type sensors. The device detects varying liquid levels and dry conditions, under a wide range of temperature conditions.

Can also help manage:

  • Alternating, dosing and resting systems
  • Uneven zone distribution
  • Sewage system expansion

Easy to install & retrofit:

  • Fits industry standard inspection ports.
  • Can be completely buried if desired.
  • Simple set-up and calibration
  • Low voltage power
